IS 3M ENOUGH?
When a short cable works, and when it doesn't
- Works well: your charger sits on the same side of the car as the charge port, within about two metres of it once parked.
- Works well: public AC bays where you can park right up to the post.
- Gets tight: a car with its port on a rear corner, parked nose-in to a wallbox on the front wall.
- Too short: a charger on the opposite wall, a driveway, or any spot where you can’t choose how you park.
A three-metre cable has to reach with slack, not just touch. If the run from socket to port is more than about two and a half metres, the 5m is the safer buy.

Need more reach than 3m?
The same 22kW cable comes in three longer sizes:
- 5m: the usual pick for a single garage or carport.
- 7.5m: a charger across the garage, or a car that isn’t always parked the same way round.
- 10m: driveways, long carports and kerbside bays.
On single-phase power? You’ll charge at around 7kW whatever the cable, and this one is ready for up to 22kW when you plug into three-phase at home or at a public station. Many cars top out at 11kW on AC, so check what yours accepts before paying for speed it can’t use.

A short cable tends to get used more, because it’s less effort to get out. This one is built for that. The handles are rated to withstand up to a tonne of pressure, the pins are silver-plated copper alloy, and the connectors are tested beyond 10,000 plug cycles.

3M CABLE QUESTIONS
Less to lift, quicker to coil, and less cable lying on the ground to trip on or drive over. If it reaches comfortably, shorter is simply easier to live with.
